Beer. We like Beer! Actually, Ian has been making beer at home since the Springtime. We've been making wine at home since 2005, but just this summer Ian has started making beer.

There are several differences between wine and beer. Beer is much smellier. Also, once it gets going, it can bubble over the primary container very quickly. Anyway, here are some pictures of beer making on a small scale in an East End kitchen:

Guess who's back???? ....KEVIN! Do y'all remember Kevin? He is the adorable woodchuck who showed up in July last summer and ate all of our flowers. He is so damn cute and so fat (sort of like baby kerbear actually, like a blob with no neck and no limbs, just furrier and not bald at all. I heart you Sister!) So here are a few pictures of our garden before kevin eats everything around:

Here are some random shots of around our house this afternoon. I have tried to write the description of the photo above the actual picture, but I never know what will happen once it's posted.

Our newest little garden patch.

Our Red Brick Road, patio stones stolen from Mash McCann's overgrown patio.

The bathtub that we found down the street and turned into a water garden.Kitty Kat Toshi on top of our mattress that we're temporarily storing in our living room until we move upstairs next week.Toshi-cat again.Baby tomatoes that we're growing in black pots on the driveway. They get moved by us a few times daily to get maximum sunshine. No fruits yet though.
Front garden, complete with giant rocks that Ian and his friends moved from someone else's yard. It's quite amazing how many people complement these rocks. Really.
Crazy Onions! These just showed up this spring. I am pretty sure they were from last year, and I missed pulling them when I pulled all the other fall veggies. Now we're just keeping them b/c they look so bizarre.
Coneflower about to bloom.Bathtub up closer. The canna is just a few days away from popping.
Beer Battered Tofu! The recipe is from Vegan Brunch and turned out to be amazing. Who says being Vegan has to be Healthy? These fatty fried "fishies" were served with home made Freedom Fries and Organic Beer.Purple Garden (taken back in AprilPurple Garden today. The only thing that has bloomed in purple so far are the chives. We've had yellow irises, a scarlet rose, and white Jacob's Ladder. I think we may need to rename this particular garden!
That's it for now. Stay tuned for major renos in July as we take over upstairs AND renovate the mainfloor bathroom.

Summer's here! And so is our new front porch!

Ian started this on Sunday (while Kerry and I watched 30 Rock and nursed our little hangovers). He took out all the windows and the door, and then joined us for some 30 Rock (he was not hungover though, so he was being kind of loud, haha).

And here it is Tuesday, I arrived home from job #1, and Kerry was here with Ian, tearing apart the rest of the porch. And by the time I returned home tonight from job #2, they were all done! It looks so much better. Pretty much all that's left to do is paint the floor and get some cute porch furniture. (As usual, these pics are not in order, but the first one is obviously the old mudroom...you can use your imagination to put the rest in order:)

such sad news....my camera has officially died. Although we tried everything to make it work, it died and took with it all the goodtimes, gardening and reno pictures from the past month. I tried to upload some pics tonight and that's when I discovered the truth; they are all gone.

So, I will be shopping this week for a new camera, and hopefully I can post some more pictures by the weekend. Our garden is looking fabulous (not just according to me!) but it is experiencing some neglect, since my Dad broke his foot. He is usually the one who sings to our little plants every day :)

Also, since our tenant is leaving, we have a total reno planned for the downstairs bathroom. It will commence as soon as we can get up there and begin using *his* bathroom-July 1st. Hopefully my mum will come and help us clean it up though, since NO ONE cleans like my mama!

OK, that's all for now I guess. Pretty boring without the photos...I know!
