this old cat-house

Bathroom renos continue! We bought tile yesterday for the back-splash. It took about 7 minutes to choose what we wanted causing the employee to tell us we were the most easy-going customers he has ever seen. Hmmm...I guess he hasn't heard the story about choosing our countertop. Anyway! Here is the old light (with a flashback to the flowery wallpaper that is long gone):
Replaced by track lighting and a fan with no birds living in it:
The evolution of the bathroom counter. Ian shoved a 2 by 6 into the wall (screwed into a stud sounds a little inappropriate, but that's the truth) with the plan to cantelever the new countertop, instead of installing cabinets underneath. The counter top material at this point is still a mystery.
Here it is! Maple veneer plywood, stained and water proofed, and built by Mr McCann himself! Those holes are for the sink drain and the water pipes.

Plumbing being installed.
It works! There is water!
Sink and countertop. I will take a better picture of the faucet soon, it's very cool too!
This is as far as we've got so far. Next step, pick up the special order glass tile, install it, find a vintage mirror and a giant piece of Catholic art for the far wall. After that we are on the lookout for free-standing tiny cabinets that will roll under the floating countertop. Easy peasy! Yeah right!
Next project is up for discussion. We have a lot of drywalling left to finish, but I think that might have to wait until it's a bit warmer so we can open the windows. A reminder-black boogers are the result of drywall dust, and no one wants that.

Mr McCann did a terrific job on the floating countertop. Who knew he was so talented? You guys really could start your own TV show on renovations, cooking and cat rearing!

Love the bathroom light fixture - funky and shiny at the same time. The blue (is it blue or grey) paint is nice and that bathroom faucet is really cool. Did you buy all that at the "rehab" store or is it brand new?

I think Tasha is beautiful and not the least bit scary. As well, she blends in nicely with your house. Do the cats ever get lost in all the "stuff" in your kitchen? You could start cooking in there and probably stay for months and months with all the things you could bake and fry and boil. Hmmm... something to think about. Your receipe looks delicious as does the sound of pancakes. Auntie doesn't like to cook so Ii will have to wait until I visit you for those delights!

Next up for reno's?

Love you
Auntie
