this old cat-house

my new favourite thing is to begin projects while ian (love) is at work, so when he gets home he has to just jump in. for instance, on thursday i got home in the afternoon and began the oh-so-satisfying task of re-sanding that damn white floor. man o man did that feel good. fortunately as a team we have reached the point where ian also believes a white floor was pretty much the worst thing that could happen to us, so he was not mad that i was effectively destroying his dream. this picture is another example of my projects that occur while ian is not home. i built this mantle ALL BY MYSELF! previously it was just a piece of wood stuck to the wall, (here it is last christmas)

but now it has shape and movement and strength and all those other adjectives you hear on "flip that house".

yes, the picture is dark and i am fully aware that is part of the reason it looks so fab. :) i will also admit that i tried about 4 screws before i realized that the drill was set to remove screws. does that make sense? so it was rotating backwards and was not screwing into the wood. what kind of person would leave it on that setting i ask? at least 95% of drilling activities involve screwing inwards, not outwards. that boy, i tell you.
also, here is a picture of plum in
the sink.
not too sure why she is there since it is about -20 deg
rees...it;s not like she needs to cool off. oh well. she is pretty cute!
